Anthony Antsyferoff, better known as Dapple Apple, was a proud addition to the Silk Music family last year, with a standout EP on Arrival (\"Cognac 1994\"), a brilliant remix of G-Tek\"s \"Infinito\" on Silk Digital, and masterful recent remix of Alex Maragos\" \"Play 6\" on Silk Textures. This follow-up contribution to the Textures imprint takes the form of a new EP, showcasing once again the sophisticated and sexy sounds of this rising sonic craftsman. The title cut, \"Beyond A Shadow of a Doubt,\" offers a rich soundscape, with filtered pads evoking a sensual mood early on in the tune. The water-logged bassline, heavily reverb\"ed synth stabs, and wide-panned rhythmic effects immerse the listener into a veritable Eden of sound. A great hook in the tune - perhaps the most memorable - is a provocative vocal stab, which entices the listener forward (as if sampled from the mythological Sirens). Talented Russian artist and Silk newcomer Stan Chetverikov maintains the blissed-out vibe of the original, with sweeping pads and wet synth stabs throughout. Yet, his mix offers a techier, more \"bit-crushed\" texture, as well as a lovely piano and sax-driven lead break. In the latter half of the tune, a more energetic new lead arp gives the track extra weight. The final tune in the package is a second original by Dapple Apple entitled \"No Seagulls Allowed.\" Again, the sensation of being underwater immediately is evoked here, as tranquil textures are underscored by a brilliantly filtered bass. Synths stabs and pad sweeps routinely punctuate the track, while a techy \"lead\" synth dominates the mid range.
